REBUILD: WEEK 4 MENSTRUAL (3-7 Days)
THE BIG PICTURE OF HAPPY HORMONES
Winter has finally arrived this month. Your healthy period is here! Or if your period isn’t healthy just yet, you are working on it and making progress.
It’s easy to remember what your body needs in winter because it’s really cold outside and your mombody’s temperature has dropped as well. Curling up in a warm blanket with a cup of red raspberry leaf tea is seriously your exclusive right during this particular phase. And warm soups and stews are the best ways to Mbody8 your mombody with nourishing, easy to digest, soft, wholesome foods. You’ll notice your body feels physically heavier and energy levels are lower so light activity is your best ally right now too.
Best ways to support your mombody hormones this week:
Body temperature is lower, so warm foods are recommended. Soups and stews are ideal for this phase.
Appetite increases and you need 25% more calories a day.
Seed Cycling: One tablespoon of sesame and sunflower seeds when progesterone levels rise. Sesame seeds have lignans which prevent the buildup of excess estrogen and their high levels of zinc promotes progesterone production. Sunflower seeds support liver detoxification and contribute to healthy progesterone levels.
Your body craves good, heathy fats. In addition, red meat, seafood, kelp, nori all helps re-mineralize your body due to blood loss during this phase.
Resting with a cup of milk thistle tea or red raspberry leaf tea is your ideal way to spend the next couple of days in the menstrual phase. However, we are going to cover autophagy this week just because it’s our last week together. But a cup of tea and a good book are definitely the way to go!
Throughout the menstrual week, we will cover exactly how to help support your mombody through the 4 pillars of health: EAT, MOVE, REST, DETOX. You will learn simple strategies to bring into your life and this information will become second nature - nothing so much you have to do, rather who you become.
A SMALL DETAIL - AUTOPHAGY
Autophagy is what your body naturally does to get rid of unhealthy, diseased cells. Think of it as your body’s spring cleaning. The word “autophagy” comes from auto, which means “self”, and “phagy” which means “eat”. So basically, your body is eating itself. This whole process is your body’s way of eating the broken, unusable, damaged, weakened cells so it can make way for new, fresh, healthy cells to take their place. Think of it like your body’s own Ms. Pacman. Ms. Pacman is chomping away at all the bad stuff inside your body. Talk about an efficient way to clear up the trash in your body! Genius!
While autophagy is a natural process it does slow down as we age. But there are several ways to light a candle under Ms. Pacman’s butt to kick this process into high gear when it wants to slow down.
Autophagy is driven by cycles and rhythms just like the tides of the ocean. High tide and low tide. Up and back. Always think of autophagy like the ocean - it works best when you turn it on, then turn it off. You don’t want to live in a perpetual state of keeping autophagy on because like anything else, it will no longer function well if it is always turned on.
You will look and feel amazing when you do!
I’ve also included another video from my first program called RESTORE that was intended for newly postpartum moms. But I decided to include it here in the REBUILD program as well because I want every single mom in the world to know this important information about their spine and pelvis - it’s a huge factor for living pain-free, injury-free, and leak-free and for aging gracefully! Great for kids and husbands too!
